Two recent works by soferet/parchment maker/artist Two recent works by soferet/parchment maker/artist Rabbi Linda Motzkin. Both pieces are on Linda's unique handmade deerskin parchment.

The second piece "Jubilee", inspired by the upcoming 50th anniversary of the ordination of the first woman rabbi by a rabbinical seminary (June 3, 1972, Rabbi Sally Priesand, Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion), uses feminine language from Toratah's version of Lev 25:9.

We are concluding our productive and enriching thr We are concluding our productive and enriching three-week stay in Paducah thanks to @airstudiopaducah and @alonzodavis_studio. Photos are of Linda working in the studio (in addition to her larger pieces, she was doing "a Hebrew letter a day"), our corner in the Lower Town Arts District, a hike in the Shawnee National Forest across the river in southern Illinois, and some of Jonathan's baked goods. The last photo is another of Jonathan's sculptures (see previous post) - this one in mixed media - glass, ceramic, plastic, metal, fabric, and potato. Eminent sculptor and Professor of Art Emeritus Walter Hall has called Jonathan's work "... free of pretension - not fishing for trade journal artspeak."
